Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) successfully marked its presence at Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2026, India and Asia’s leading travel trade exhibition, held from 5–7 February 2026 at the Jio World Trade Centre, Mumbai.
Participating as a Co-Exhibitor alongside the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), SLCB showcased Sri Lanka as a preferred destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE).
Over the three days, SLCB engaged in fruitful discussions with leading Indian travel trade partners and associations, exploring collaborative opportunities to further promote Sri Lanka’s MICE tourism sector. Meaningful interactions with TAAI and TAFI highlighted strong potential to deepen industry ties between India and Sri Lanka.
Parallel to OTM, SLTPB hosted a Tourism Networking Programme attended by over 150 Indian travel trade invitees. Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Honorable Deputy Minister of Tourism, graced both OTM and the networking event. The Chairman, SLCB, addressed the gathering, outlining Sri Lanka’s growing opportunities in MICE tourism and destination weddings.
The Chairman, SLCB also participated as a panelist at the OTM Forum on “Beyond the Usual: Mapping Where Indian Travelers Will Go Next”, sharing insights on emerging travel trends and Sri Lanka’s value proposition.
Sri Lanka Tourism officials further strengthened diplomatic and industry engagement by attending the 78th National Day celebration organized by the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Mumbai.
A high-level discussion with SriLankan Airlines, the Honorable Deputy Minister of Tourism and the Chairman, SLCB focused on boosting arrivals from Western India, targeting high-yield segments, incentive travel and weddings, aligned with Sri Lanka’s national development priorities.
🇮🇳 India remains Sri Lanka’s largest source market, contributing 22% of total arrivals. According to SLTDA statistics, 531,511 Indian tourists visited Sri Lanka in 2025, marking the highest-ever Indian arrivals in history—a significant milestone for Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
